A person read every profile here before it went live. Photos stay private until one of you accepts the other’s interest, and then you see each other’s. Your phone and email are never shown to anyone. Photos appear when she approves your request. Every interest you send carries a note you wrote, so make it count. Her contact details are never shown; she shares them if she wants to.
Hinduism is the fastest-growing religion in Australia. About 684,000 people identified as Hindu at the 2021 census, roughly half as many again as five years earlier, and India is now the second-largest country of birth for overseas-born Australians.
Hindu families here are asking about language, community, diet and how observant a household is, and often about horoscopes as well, which is why manglik status is a question on every Hindu profile. Rishta puts those in the profile as fields rather than leaving them to a first phone call: religion and community are separate, mother tongue is its own filter, diet distinguishes vegetarian from eggetarian from non-vegetarian, and “no bar” is always an option. Photos stay private until she approves someone, which is the part that brings women here.
Built in, not promised
What a profile here covers for Hindu families: Mother tongue · Community, or no bar · Vegetarian / eggetarian · How practising · Manglik · Family origin · Citizen, PR or visa.
A note from the founder
I spent six months on a paid plan on the biggest matrimonial site in the world, searching honestly for someone to marry from here. I found roughly ten men for every woman, a paid plan that produced nothing, and a fake profile I could make in minutes.
Rishta is what I wished had existed: women free with nothing held back, photos hidden until she says yes, every profile ID-checked before it goes live, every interest written by hand, no phone numbers on the page, and a matchmaker who is never from your own town. I built it because I am looking too.
