Gujarati brides in New Zealand

You won’t find a gallery of Gujarati brides in New Zealand here, on purpose. Women on Rishta decide who can find them, and their photos appear only after they approve someone. That is why they are here, and why a reply here means something.

Open in New Zealand today. Everyone checks their ID before going live.

A person read every profile here before it went live. Photos stay private until one of you accepts the other’s interest, and then you see each other’s. Your phone and email are never shown to anyone. Photos appear when she approves your request. Every interest you send carries a note you wrote, so make it count. Her contact details are never shown; she shares them if she wants to.

Gujarati New Zealand

The community in New Zealand

Gujarati families are among the oldest Indian communities in New Zealand. Some have been here for more than a century, first in the Waikato and Auckland, and the language is still widely spoken at home.

Gujarati families tend to want a match who shares the language at home and fits a household that is usually vegetarian and often in business. Rishta has mother tongue as a filter, diet as a filter that separates vegetarian from eggetarian, and family origin as its own field, so a Gujarati family that came by way of East Africa or Fiji is not lumped in with everyone else. Community is there if you want it and “no bar” if you don’t.

How Rishta works for Gujaratis in New Zealand

What a profile here covers for Gujaratis: Gujarati mother tongue · Vegetarian / Jain · Community, or no bar · Occupation · Family origin · Citizen, PR or visa.

Private by default, whoever you are
Your photos are hidden until you say yes to a specific person: accept their interest, or approve their request, and you see each other’s. Men choose this too — privacy here is not a women-only feature. Not a paid upgrade, not a toggle you have to go looking for.
You decide who can find you
Visible to every approved member, only to people who match your preferences, or only to Rishta matchmakers. The default is preferences-only, and there are no public profile pages for anyone. Search engines never see a member.
ID-checked, or invisible
Everyone checks their ID before going live, and a person looks over every new profile the same day. Until then you cannot search and nobody can find you. Nobody appears just because they filled in a form.
A real ID, a real face
Photograph your passport or licence, then your face. Didit checks the document is genuine and that the live face matches it, and, if your profile has photos by then, that your main photo is the same person. It takes about two minutes and costs you nothing. We are told the result and the name, age and gender on the ID, never the photos of your document.
A matchmaker, never from your city
If you want a matchmaker, yours is never from your own city, so she will not run into you at a wedding. It is a paid service for women and men alike: an Icebreaker call is $39, and on Vichola ($1,199 for 3 months) she searches and approaches on your behalf. Searching and talking yourself is free for women.

Questions Gujaratis in New Zealand ask us

Can I join in New Zealand?
Yes, today. Women join free. Men join with Search, $39 a month or $99 for 3 months. Everyone checks their ID before going live.
How is this different from Shaadi.com for Gujaratis in New Zealand?
Three ways. Everyone checks their ID before going live, and a person looks over every new profile. Women decide who can find them, and their photos are hidden until they approve someone. And no phone number or email is ever displayed on a profile, at any membership level. There is a longer comparison at /rishta-vs-shaadi.
Do women pay?
Not to search, be found, add photos, send interests, message or call. That is free for women permanently, and men pay for the same things. A matchmaker working on your behalf is a separate paid service for everyone, because that is a person’s time.
Can my parents be involved?
Yes. Family can pay for a son’s membership, can see a Family View page you choose the contents of, and can speak to your matchmaker with your consent. What they can’t do is put a profile live for someone who hasn’t agreed to it: the person on the profile checks their own ID first.
Can I filter by community and mother tongue?
Yes. Mother tongue, religion, community (with “caste no bar” always available), diet, family origin and residency status are all filters, and any of them can be a must-have.

A note from the founder

I spent six months on a paid plan on the biggest matrimonial site in the world, searching honestly for someone to marry from here. I found roughly ten men for every woman, a paid plan that produced nothing, and a fake profile I could make in minutes.

Rishta is what I wished had existed: women free with nothing held back, photos hidden until she says yes, every profile ID-checked before it goes live, every interest written by hand, no phone numbers on the page, and a matchmaker who is never from your own town. I built it because I am looking too.
